Enforcement

Bergen County & Passaic County Division of Consumer Affairs has it's Task Force determine if certain Consumer Laws are being violated.  In addition we have worked with other agencies and assisted other agencies.
Some of the Agencies we have worked with are:

•     New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs
•     New Jersey State Police
  
•     New Jersey Motor Vehicle Bus Unit
  
•     Fairveiw Police Department
  
•     Paramus Police Department
  

Bergen County assisted the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs with roadside Inspection for Jitney Buses to make sure they are safe, that the driver is properly licensed and that they have New Jersey Consumer Affairs phone number on the inside and outside of the vehicle.

​Bergen County assisted the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs with the Inspection of Pet Stores in Bergen County to make sure the Dogs & Cats that are being sold, are being properly treated and information is being documented as per NJ Law.

Bergen & Passaic County Consumer Affairs Unit inspects retail locations for Refund Policies which must be posted by law at one of several locations.  (Point of Sale, Front Door or on Each Item)

​Bergen & Passaic County Consumer Affairs Unit also checks if contractors are registered with the State of New Jersey.
