About Us

Our Mission

The Bergen County and Passaic County Office of Consumer Protection is charged with the protection of the public, educating consumers and businesses about their rights and responsibilities, and ensuring that businesses comply with the consumer protection laws of the State of New Jersey.
The Bergen County  and Passaic County Office of Consumer Protection’s main responsibility is to enforce the Consumer Fraud Act and its regulations, and to protect consumers from becoming victims of fraudulent and unconscionable business practices.

The topics include, scams & frauds, protecting yourself in a retail world, and dealing with Contracts for Home Improvement, for both the contractor and homeowner.
